A Holistic Health Coach is a trained professional who uses an integrative approach to both diet and lifestyle changes to improve their clients' health. Working as a guide toward an overall healthier life, they will look at their clients' nutrition patterns, relationships, physical fitness, spirituality, and more. During client-coaching relationship, a Holistic Health Coach will: Coach and educate, empower, create, and recognize.
Wellness Coaching is not about focusing necessarily on understanding experiences in your past or why you may be stuck as you might explore in some therapy work. It is, instead, more future and action oriented. The main focus of Wellness Coaching is to help you notice what IS working in your life and help you leverage your strengths to create possibilities and positive changes in your future.
Unlike a personal trainer or nutritionist, a Wellness Coach won’t directly lead you through exercises or give you a specific diet to follow, but rather will help you develop fitness and nutrition goals that are meaningful and self-motivating for you… and help you integrate them into your life in sustainable ways.
It’s not the role of a Wellness Coach to offer expert advice. The effectiveness of working with a coach is in the power of being asked where you want to go with your wellness, why it matters to you, and in the holistic support that helps you translate your vision into specific and personally meaningful goals.
Health coaching is great for anyone ready and inspired to make changes in their life but unsure of how to get started. Health coaches take the time to listen to your unique concerns and help you identify goals, strategies and solutions that work for you. There is no “one size fits all” approach to health. A Health Coach will help you navigate the world of contradictory nutritional advice to identify exactly what will work for your body and your needs.
Health/Wellness coaching is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition. It is not intended to substitute for the advice, treatment and/or diagnosis of a qualified licensed professional. Trained Health Coaches may not make any medical diagnoses, claims and/or substitute for your personal physician’s care. As your health/wellness coach I do not provide a second opinion or in any way attempt to alter the treatment plans or therapeutic goals/recommendations of your personal physician. It is my role to partner with you to provide ongoing support and accountability as you create an action plan to meet and maintain your health goals.
